They're a Weird Mob

Nino Culotta (Walter Chiari) steps off the boat in Australia expecting a job at a newspaper, and finds none waiting for him. The only work on offer is as a builder's labourer, hauling for a crew whose slang he can barely follow, including Joe Kennedy (Ed Devereaux). Michael Powell sends him onto the site and into the pub with a plain eye, and Nino keeps showing up, one baffling word at a time.
