Why would a trapeze artist who has spent his whole life in the air now be afraid of an accident above the sawdust? Eddie Marsh (Gene Kelly) has joined the army, and between drills he befriends Kathryn Jones (Kathryn Grayson), the colonel's daughter, while her father Bill (John Boles) looks on without approval. George Sidney made this wartime picture for MGM as a morale booster, then filled its variety show with the studio's stars.
