“They're down on their luck and up to their necks in señoritas, margaritas, banditos and bullets!”

Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase), Lucky Day (Steve Martin) and Ned Nederlander (Martin Short) get fired by their studio and ride south into Mexico, hoping to cash in on what they think is a booking. The village that sent for them wants real heroes to stand up to El Guapo (Alfonso Arau) and his gang. John Landis keeps the three of them in matching costumes, and the men grow more tangled in one another's bickering and loyalty the further they ride.
