Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

“A mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter's murder when they fail to catch the culprit.”

Seven months after her daughter's murder, no one in Ebbing has been charged, and the road into town runs past three empty billboards. Mildred (Frances McDormand) rents them and paints a message aimed at Willoughby (Woody Harrelson), the police chief the town loves. Martin McDonagh sets her against Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an officer who answers with threats, and the billboards stand there lit against the dark.
