Three Colors: Red

(1994)Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski100 min · RDrama, Mystery, Romance
“The invisible thread of destinies.”

Valentine (Irène Jacob), a part-time model in Geneva, runs over a dog and tracks down its owner, a retired judge (Jean-Louis Trintignant) who barely seems to care. She keeps the dog, then returns to his house and finds him listening in on his neighbors' phone calls. Krzysztof Kieślowski builds the film on the pull between these two near-strangers, and on how much people reveal to someone they have no reason to trust.
