“It's good to be king.”

The Gulf War has just ended when a map turns up in an Iraqi bunker, and Archie Gates (George Clooney) is sure it leads to a cache of stolen Kuwaiti gold. He talks Troy Barlow (Mark Wahlberg), Chief Elgin (Ice Cube) and Conrad Vig (Spike Jonze) into a quiet side trip away from their base. David O. Russell sets the heist inside the 1991 uprisings against Saddam Hussein, where the war the soldiers think is over is still killing people around them.
