THX 1138 (Robert Duvall) is a technician in an underground society where android police keep order and everyone takes drugs that flatten feeling. When he goes without the drugs for the first time, he begins a secret relationship with LUH (Maggie McOmie). George Lucas, in his first feature, sets them against a system that has no place for either of them, and they have only each other to lose.
