… tick… tick… tick…
“Two men with nothing in common but the hate that surrounds them.”
In 1970, in a small, racially divided town in the Deep South, a black man is elected sheriff. Jimmy Price (Jim Brown) takes the badge, and Mayor Jeff Parks (Fredric March) and John Little (George Kennedy) are left to deal with what the vote has done to the place. Ralph Nelson shoots it in grainy, sun-flattened color and keeps the camera close on faces, so every conversation on a porch or in the street feels like it could tip over.
