“The squirrels made it seem less lonely”
A decrepit country house in rural Texas, with the prairie running flat in every direction, becomes the whole world for Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland), a young girl left on her own after her parents' deaths. Terry Gilliam follows her there as she settles in with Dell (Janet McTeer) and Dickens (Brendan Fletcher), an eccentric sister and brother. Jeliza-Rose answers the quiet with the voices of her doll heads, and she keeps talking to them.
