In Madrid at the end of the 1980s, Ricky (Antonio Banderas) walks out of a psychiatric hospital with no job and one fixed idea. He tracks down Marina Osorio (Victoria Abril), an actress he once slept with, and binds her inside her own apartment. Pedro Almodóvar follows her through the captivity, and Marina has to decide what to make of a man who is sure he is her husband.
