“SHE: "Is that blood?" HE: "I took two bullets through the chest, ma'am. Just routine."”

In 1955, Sherry Conley (Ginger Rogers), a former model now serving time in prison, is pulled out of her cell to testify against a notorious gangster. The District Attorney moves her into a posh hotel under guard, where Lloyd Hallett (Edward G. Robinson) is trying to hold the case together. Phil Karlson keeps Sherry in the room with her nerves, and she has little reason to trust the men protecting her.
