Tillie's Punctured Romance

(1914)Directed by Mack Sennett82 minComedy
“THE FUNNIEST FEATURE COMEDY EVER FILMED”

Tillie Banks (Marie Dressler) is a big, loud farm girl, and she is the first person to take notice when a smooth talker (Charlie Chaplin) from the city turns up in her village. He sees how much money her father keeps to pay his workers, and he talks her into running off with him. Mack Sennett made this in 1914 as the first feature-length comedy, and its simplest idea is that people will do almost anything for cash and a little flattery.
