Tintin (Jean-Pierre Talbot) wants to help his friend Captain Haddock (Georges Wilson), who has just inherited a ship called the Golden Fleece from an old comrade, Captain Paparanic. They travel to Istanbul, where the vessel is anchored, and meet a businessman named Karabine who keeps insisting on buying it, though it is dilapidated. Jean-Jacques Vierne puts live actors in Hergé's costumes, and Haddock stands on the deck of his rundown ship.
