Titus

(1999)Directed by Julie Taymor162 min · RDrama, History
“The fate of an empire. The descent of man.”

Titus Andronicus (Anthony Hopkins) is a Roman general who has spent his life at war, and he comes home victorious to a city that no longer feels like his. Julie Taymor, in her first feature, stages Shakespeare's earliest tragedy with Tamora (Jessica Lange), Chiron (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and Demetrius (Matthew Rhys) circling him. With his sons and daughters taken one by one, everything Titus has left to lose is his family.
