To End All Wars

(2001)Directed by David L. Cunningham108 min · RDrama, War, Action

Allied officers in a Japanese prison camp in Burma are beaten routinely and fed almost nothing. Major Ian Campbell (Robert Carlyle) wants to fight back and plan an escape, while Captain Ernest Gordon (Ciarán McMenamin) chooses a quieter kind of endurance, and Lt. Jim Reardon (Kiefer Sutherland) is held in the same hut. David L. Cunningham, adapting Gordon's own memoir, keeps the camera close on the men's faces and the cramped bamboo quarters.
