To Kill a Mockingbird

In sleepy Maycomb, Alabama, during the Depression, six-year-old Scout Finch (Mary Badham) and her older brother Jem (Phillip Alford) spend their days with their friend Dill (John Megna), spying on the reclusive neighbor Boo Radley. Their widowed father, Atticus (Gregory Peck), a respected lawyer, agrees to defend Tom Robinson, a black man charged with rape. Robert Mulligan tells it from the children's height, so the town and the trial reach us as they do.
