Koyomi Hidaka (Hio Miyazawa) meets Shiori Sato (Aju Makita) at his father's research center, and the two begin to fall in love. Then their parents fall in love too and marry, which would make the couple stepsiblings. Kenichi Kasai builds the story around their plan to run to a parallel universe, where crossing between dimensions is common but never free, and around the cost they have yet to learn.
