To the Left of the Father

André (Selton Mello) left his family's farm in 1940s São Paulo after years under a father who rules the household and a mother who holds on too tightly. Now his elder brother Pedro (Leonardo Medeiros), who has always resented the father's favoritism, is sent to bring him home. Luiz Fernando Carvalho ties the film to André and his sister Ana (Simone Spoladore), a bond the rest of the house cannot accept.
