Toast

“The Story of a Boy's Hunger”

Young Nigel Slater (Oscar Kennedy) grows up in an English household where his mother (Victoria Hamilton) can make little beyond toast, and he wants more from a kitchen. SJ Clarkson follows him into his teens (Freddie Highmore), after his mother dies and his father (Ken Stott) brings home Mrs Potter (Helena Bonham Carter), who wins the house with a lemon meringue pie. Now Nigel is cooking against his stepmother, and what he stands to lose is his father's attention.
