Tokyo Twilight

Takako (Setsuko Hara) has left an unhappy marriage and moved back into her father's house in Tokyo, where she wants only to keep her younger sister Akiko (Ineko Arima) steady. Then they hear their mother, who left them as children, is alive and living in the city, and Akiko cannot accept it. Yasujirō Ozu films the family in his last black-and-white picture, with Chishū Ryū as the father, who says little and stays near the doorway.
