Tom & Viv

“For better, for worse, forever.”

In England in the 1910s, Tom Eliot (Willem Dafoe), an American poet, marries Vivienne Haigh-Wood (Miranda Richardson), a socialite whose family watches the match with dread. The marriage has to hold up against her illness, which brings gynaecological and emotional trouble, and against the rise of his reputation. Brian Gilbert, adapting Michael Hastings's play, keeps the film close to the couple's rooms and their quarrels.
