Tom at the Farm

“What you don't know will hurt you.”

Tom (Xavier Dolan) drives from Montreal into the Quebec countryside for his boyfriend's funeral, arriving at a farm where the dead man's mother, Agathe (Lise Roy), has never heard of him. Francis (Pierre-Yves Cardinal), the brother, is hard and watchful, and he insists Tom keep the relationship hidden from her. Dolan keeps the camera tight on the two men and lets the farmhouse close in around them.
