Tom Sawyer (Johnny Whitaker) would rather be anywhere but school, and he spends his days dodging chores and chasing the next adventure along the Mississippi. His best friend is Huckleberry Finn (Jeff East), and together they play at pirates, crash their own funeral, and see a murder they were never meant to see. Don Taylor's musical, with songs by the Sherman Brothers, lets a boy who can't sit still find out how far a good story can carry him.
