Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson (William Hurt) wants to keep the banks from taking the whole economy down with them, and in September 2008 he has only a few weeks to do it. Curtis Hanson follows him through phone calls and conference rooms, opposite Dick Fuld (James Woods) at Lehman and Fed chairman Ben Bernanke (Paul Giamatti). Paulson spends those days working the list of names, trying one executive after another.
