Too Late the Hero

“War. It's a dying business.”

A patrol of British soldiers is sent across a Pacific island in the Second World War, into the part held by the Japanese. Some of them, Pvt. Tosh Hearne (Michael Caine) and Lt. Sam Lawson (Cliff Robertson) among them, would rather be anywhere else. Robert Aldrich follows the group as the Japanese hunt them toward base, and Tosh keeps moving because the alternative is worse.
