At the Naval Fighter Weapons School on the California coast, the best young pilots in the Navy compete for supremacy in the sky. Maverick (Tom Cruise) is cocky and reckless, the kind of flyer who breaks formation to prove a point, and his partner Goose (Anthony Edwards) follows him into trouble.
