“Up there with the best of the best.”

In 1986, Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) and his radar intercept officer Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards) leave the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise for the Navy's Fighter Weapons School at Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego. Tony Scott directs the training and the rivalries with a restless, driving energy. For Maverick, one bad day, and his own demons, could cost him the dream of becoming an ace pilot.
