Topper Returns

“Topper's having girl trouble again!”

Cosmo Topper (Roland Young) is a mild banker who has already been haunted twice and has no wish to go through it again. Then Gail Richards (Joan Blondell), killed by mistake while staying at her friend Ann Carrington's (Carole Landis) house, turns up to ask for his help finding who did it. Roy Del Ruth leaves Topper hunting a murderer alongside a woman only he can see, with his wife Clara (Billie Burke) watching him talk to an empty room.
