Alfredo López (Javier Cámara) is an encyclopedia salesman in Spain in 1973, going door to door and barely covering the rent. When a company offers him and his wife Carmen (Candela Peña) money to shoot adult films at home, he takes it. Pablo Berger follows Alfredo behind the camera, where he starts to see himself as a real filmmaker with a serious film in him.
