“Touched by Genius. Cursed by Madness. Blinded by Love.”

In 19th-century France, the poet Paul Verlaine (David Thewlis) is married and respected when a wild young writer, Arthur Rimbaud (Leonardo DiCaprio), turns up in his life. Agnieszka Holland draws on the poets' own letters and verse for their forbidden romance. Verlaine follows the boy anyway, through the drinking and the bohemian life that comes with him, and Mathilde (Romane Bohringer) is left to watch.
