“The strangest vengeance ever planned!”

A car bursts into flames on the US-Mexico border, and no one can say who planted the bomb. Miguel Vargas (Charlton Heston), a Mexican investigator newly married to Susie (Janet Leigh), starts asking questions of Captain Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles, who also directed), the town's heavy, trusted police chief. Susie stays close through all of it, and the two of them are never quite on the same side of the line.
