Tove

“In search of freedom and desire”

Tove Jansson (Alma Pöysti) wants to be a serious painter, and in Helsinki in 1945, with the war over, she finally has room to try. The Moomin creatures she once made up for frightened children in bomb shelters keep growing into a worldwide success that outgrows her canvases. Zaida Bergroth follows her through the city's artists and lovers, Atos Wirtanen (Shanti Roney) among them, and the film leaves Tove alone with a brush and her unfinished paintings.
