In Mexico City, thirteen-year-old Adriana (Paulina Gaitán) is taken off the street, and her brother Jorge (Cesar Ramos) sets out after the people who took her. Ray Sheridan (Kevin Kline), a Texas cop with a daughter of his own who may have been lost the same way, joins him across the border. Marco Kreuzpaintner holds on Veronica (Alicja Bachleda-Curuś), a Polish woman promised a better life in America, her face still hopeful as the door closes.
