Trading Places

(1983)Directed by John Landis116 min · RComedy
“They're not just getting rich... They're getting even.”

Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd) wants nothing more than to keep his place as a commodities broker, with his townhouse, his butler Coleman (Denholm Elliott) and his club membership. The brothers Randolph and Mortimer Duke bet a dollar that they can take all of it from him and hand it to Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy), a Philadelphia hustler. John Landis stages the Christmas-season swap as a farce, and the camera moves briskly between mansions and gutters.
