Training Day

“The only thing more dangerous than the line being crossed, is the cop who will cross it.”

Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke), a rookie narcotics detective, spends his first day shadowing Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington), a veteran cop who runs the streets of South Central Los Angeles with casual authority. Alonzo moves through the neighborhoods testing Jake's instincts, his loyalty, and what he's willing to do in the name of the job. By evening, Jake stands alone on a dark street, the city's indifference closing in around him like a fist.
