Joe (Joe Dallesandro) is a heroin addict in New York who spends one day looking for his next fix, and the drugs have left him unable to give his girlfriend Holly (Holly Woodlawn) what she wants. His errands stretch from a rich couple's apartment to a welfare office, where he tries to talk his way onto methadone with a faked pregnancy. Paul Morrissey films it episode by episode in a flat, grainy style that never steps in to judge anyone.
