“It wouldn't be a family trip without a few breakdowns”

Ruth (Lena Dunham) wants to understand her father Edek (Stephen Fry), a Holocaust survivor who has never quite explained what was lost. She convinces him to return to Poland after the Iron Curtain falls, retracing his childhood home and the places that shaped his silence. As they move through the rubble of his past and confront what survived and what didn't, Ruth discovers that some stories can only be told by walking through them.
