Trishna

In present-day Rajasthan, a road accident kills Trishna's father and leaves her family expecting her to earn for them. Jay (Riz Ahmed), the son of a wealthy entrepreneur, starts pursuing Trishna (Freida Pinto) with a restless, insistent charm, and the story moves from her village toward his world of money and ease. Michael Winterbottom, adapting Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles, transplants the novel to India.
