“From a million years back...Horror explodes into today!”

Potholers in a local cave come out shaken, and Dr. Brockton (Joan Crawford), an anthropologist, goes in to find a living troglodyte, half caveman and half ape. She takes him into her lab at the edge of town, where she tries to teach him to respond to her, with Inspector Greenham (Bernard Kay) watching the village's nerves fray. Freddie Francis leaves the creature squatting in a cold stone cell, grunting, his heavy brow turned toward the bars.
