“Someone got away with murder...until now.”

Eddie Dodd (James Woods) used to fight civil rights cases and now defends drug dealers, and the work has worn him down. Then Roger Baron (Robert Downey Jr.), a fresh law school graduate who followed Eddie's old cases, turns up asking to learn from him and pushes him toward a Korean man's murder conviction, eight years old, that the man's mother says he never committed. Joseph Ruben builds the film on the odd pairing of the tired lawyer and the eager student.
