True Confessions

“Two brothers out to save everyone else. But they couldn't save each other.”

Father Des Spellacy (Robert De Niro) is a monsignor's rising star in the Los Angeles archdiocese, a priest who wants the bishop's chair more than he lets on. His brother, Det. Tom Spellacy (Robert Duvall), meanwhile works the brutal killing of a young prostitute, and the case leads him toward men Des has made it his business to keep close. Ulu Grosbard sets the brothers on a collision course where the church's favor and a murderer's trail cannot both be kept.
