True Grit

(1969)Directed by Henry Hathaway128 min · GWestern, Drama, Adventure
“The strangest trio ever to track a killer.”

In the Arkansas of the 1870s, fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross (Kim Darby) comes to collect her father's body and finds the man who shot him has fled into Indian Territory. She hires Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne), a deputy U.S. marshal with a reputation for getting the job done, and a Texas Ranger called La Boeuf (Glen Campbell) tags along. Henry Hathaway's film is about grit: whether it belongs to the old and hard or to a girl who never lets go of her father's death.
