True Grit

“Punishment comes one way or another.”

Her father is dead, shot by a hired hand named Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) wants him found. She hires the hardest U.S. Marshal she can locate, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), a boozy, trigger-happy lawman, while Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon) is hunting the same man. The Coen brothers adapt Charles Portis's novel as a story about grit, the kind a child can have in greater supply than the grown men around her.
