True History of the Kelly Gang

Ned Kelly (George MacKay) grows up in the Australian badlands, where English rule falls hard on the Irish, and he wants his mother Ellen (Essie Davis) free after her arrest. To get her back he learns he comes from a line of Irish rebels, cross-dressing bandits who terrorised their oppressors, and he gathers a wild bunch of his own. Justin Kurzel shoots the dry country in bleached, restless light and drives the story forward like a man running.
