“Some mysteries are beyond belief.”

A murder suspect on the FBI's Most Wanted List has been living abroad under another man's name, and the man is Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill), a journalist. Finkel agrees to meet Christian Longo (James Franco) in prison, and the two begin trading stories, each wanting a different thing from the other. Rupert Goold keeps the visiting-room scenes spare and close, so the whole film plays as a long conversation across a table.
