“Are you now or have you ever been...”

Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) wants to keep writing, and in the late 1940s the most successful screenwriter in Hollywood defies the anti-communist HUAC committee and finds that no studio will put his name on a page. Jay Roach follows him through the blacklist years as John Wayne (David James Elliott) and the Hollywood press turn on him. Under the pressure, his daughter Niki (Elle Fanning) goes from watching her father to standing beside him.
