The land at Robber's Rise is poor and stubborn, and no one in Estonia in 1872 can say why the new owner wants it so badly. Andres (Priit Loog) arrives to turn it into a flourishing farm, and Tanel Toom follows him through the work, the feud with his spiteful neighbor Pearu (Priit Võigemast), and the beliefs he will not bend. Beside him is his wife Krõõt (Maiken Pius), who has to live inside everything he demands.
