Tulip Fever

Sophia Sandvoort (Alicia Vikander) is a young wife in 17th-century Amsterdam, married to Cornelis (Christoph Waltz), a wealthy merchant who has commissioned a portrait of the two of them. The painter, Jan Van Loos (Dane DeHaan), falls for her over the sittings, and they put their money into the tulip market to build a future together. Justin Chadwick's film is about what people will stake on a flower and on each other.
