Tunes of Glory

“Colonel Jock Sinclair drank with his men... and sang and danced with them... until that day, when a shot rang out... and he stood alone!”

Major Jock Sinclair (Alec Guinness) ran the battalion through the war and expected to keep it, so he is not pleased when brigade sends in Lieutenant Colonel Basil Barrow (John Mills), a strict, tightly wound officer, to take command. Ronald Neame sets the quarrel inside a wintry Highland barracks, where Sinclair goes to work on his successor in front of the men. Barrow has to win back discipline from a battalion that still follows Sinclair.
