Twentynine Palms

David (David Wissak), a photographer, drives into the California desert to scout locations for a shoot, and he wants the trip to run on his terms. Katia (Yekaterina Golubeva), his Russian girlfriend, rides along, and the two of them spend the days arguing, making love and swimming in the motel pool. Bruno Dumont films the empty highway and the bright, flat land with a patience that leaves them nowhere to hide.
