Two for the Road

“They make something wonderful out of being alive!”

Mark Wallace (Albert Finney), an architect, and his wife Joanna (Audrey Hepburn) are driving through France to meet a wealthy client, the same roads they first travelled together twelve years ago. Stanley Donen cuts between that first hitchhiking trip and the later ones as the car moves south from England toward the Riviera. Now the quarrels have gone flat, both of them have strayed, and the trip may be what decides whether they stay married.
